Must Reads – Stalled Progress with Achievement Gaps

A new report by the Educational Testing Service finds that there “was a steady narrowing of the achievement gap from the 1970s until the late 1980s” but that test scores have not improved since then. Source: Washington Post’s Answer Sheet

    This is very surprising. After all the attention brought on to public educators everywhere, NCLB has not improved the GAP. Clearly, it has made the GAP more noticeable to the public. It only tells us what we already new; low socioeconomic and EL have a harder time in school. It has not done anything to improve the kid’success.
