I have tried and tried to get my local school board and their “Teachers” to “stop dumbing” “Florida students” down by using and reading books such as The Yearling, Huck Fin… Kids today do not care about the past as far as horrible things that took place in the South with “The African People” although their parents and grandparents do which causes their kids to “REBEL” against their ideas. The majority of kids I speak are shamefully embarrassed about “old Southern mindsets.” Why does students drop out of school in Florida? Regardless to books “winning prizes” or being deemed “Classics” (biased) kids today could careless because it does not fit in today’s “American” standards of life. Kids in Florida struggle to read because the majority of their books are written with or in broken words, broken dialect and dialogue, who can understand this type of language? Using outdated reading material in “SCHOOLS” is no way to maintain “America’s Superpower Status” or even think about competing with our foreign competitors. Somebody needs to change the game and raise the bar in Florida.

This is too opinionated and how can this person make a statement that represents all the children or America. If you don’t know your history good or bad, you are likely to repeat it. The issue that were so destructive in History is still lingering, there are just laws that protect people now. And students drop out of school in every state, histroy has nothing to do with it. Crime, parental incompetence, laziness, ignorance,
poor education and prejudice are some of the many reasons people drop out of school.
