Finnish Educator Offers Suggestions for American Schools

Author and education expert Pasi Sahlberg visited educators in California this week to discuss the heralded Finnish education system. Sahlberg’s most recent book, “Finnish Lessons: What Can the World Learn From Educational Change in Finland?” describes the Scandinavian country’s 40-year effort to reform its school system, doing away with hierarchies and tests to create an environment that produces thinkers, researchers and inventors.
